By doing a Software Update you will be sure that the software on the MBP is at least the same as or newer than the one on your 17". Apple Certified Trainer - Final Cut Pro Copyright - all rights reserved. I saved a copy > to the desktop and it wouldn't open either. Using Final Cut Pro HD, I saved my project and tried to reopen it and it won't open; gives me a "General Error 41" message. Possibly a combination of FCP version and OS/hardware COULD cause this problem, but it's just as likely to be a problem with the project.
