If chkdsk comes up as OK then prior errors in the MFT have probably been repaired. This forum thread needs a solution. Have you tried doing a check of the hard disk (scandisk, norton utils,etc) to verify the disk is ok. Windows 7 does not support an "upgrade" from XP.  It's not an in-place upgrade that preserves your programs and data, it wipes the drive and installs windows 7 clean. Same when I selected 6285MB. It was already defragged before all this. This drive is continuing to develop errors and I would not trust it. I have had some (different) problems with Ghost and the USB drivers in the past, but never without the USB drivers.
