I'm not sure what the server's CPU/memory is. To do this just enable “Settings”, “Visibility/Download”, “Android”, “Enable Account” and uncheck all calendars except the one that is causing problem. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to open a new thread. Also, for events that will be recurring indefinitely, I often just set the schedule to end 10 or more years in advance.
