Or is this some sort of bug? save the file or in vi :wq STEP 3: CHECK GOOGLE EARTH WORKS Launch google-earth or from unity launcher make sure everything works. You could try renaming it for test purposes at least, and then observe whether GE behaves itself when run as user again.
